The Power of social media right now.

That the social media has pervaded our lives and touches all aspects of our day to day lives is beyond all doubts. Much has been written on the power of this new medium and we have seen things taking big proportions and results showing in many socio-political issues, thanks to the timely intervention of the medium. This article, however, would be on the power of the new medium, as regards Online Reputation Management and promoting business online.
Online Reputation Management is big business these days. There are many companies that do reputation management online for their clients, for big companies as well as for individuals. They do need the help of the new medium at all times. Then there are companies like Appco Group, TC World, Oracle Advertising etc that do a major share of their businesses online. They also need to depend on this medium.
So, how come the social media thing happens to be so important these days? Just think of this. Facebook has over 800 million active users. Twitter too has 300 million users, generates over 300 million tweets and handles over 1.6 billion search queries per day. Just imagine how much potential Facebook and Twitter alone have. You get to deliver messages every minute, every hour, every day to thousands and even millions of users all across the world…and that too in a short span of time. Just imagine the power you have in your hands when you get to do this. Your websites, your brands and your products will get across to millions of users worldwide in just a short span of time. All you have to do is create a social brand and corporate account on Facebook and then interact on the net. Twitter can be used to deliver messages every minute or every hour, depending upon your requirements. There are many other sites that can be made use of. The most important of them are - Bebo, MySpace, Friendster, Hi5, Xanga, LiveJournal, StumbleUpon and Tumblr.
With the new medium growing popular, Google too has updated its algorithm and now rankings are based on social media interaction and visibility too. The Google search engine now takes into account the fact that lots of action is taking place on this medium in the internet and hence this aspect cannot be overlooked or ignored.
So all you have to do is to incorporate social media into your online marketing strategy or into your reputation management endeavours. This medium is here to stay and it will, in future, define to a great extent what we say, how we say, what we buy and even how we live. So, won't it be wise to make the most use of the social media? Think about it
